This piece comes after a long period of feeling unable or extremely hesitant to write anything. The first year of my
master’s degree was exciting for some reasons and debilitating for the rest; this work gave me the opportunity to
liberate myself from the latter. Letting my mind wander where it could, Five doesn’t limit the amount of characters
that are portrayed, the emotions that are felt, or the number of composers that inspired me along the way.
Five is dedicated to my colleague and dear friend Patrick Orr who trusted and believed in me enough to write him
this work.
